Q. The Stanley cup was originally known by what name?
A. The name that was formally engraved on the Stanley Cup is the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup though the trophy was almost immediately known by the name of its benefactor.
The first NHL team to score on two penalty shots in one game was the Vancouver Canucks on February 11, 1982. Thomas Gradin and Ivan Hlinka each scored on third period shots against Detroit goalie Gilles Gilbert. Gradin was awarded a penalty shot when Red Wind forward Jody Gage grabbed the puck in the Detroit crease with his glove while Hlinka's was awarded after Detroit's Willie Huber hauled down Stan Smyl from behind on a breakaway.
Our Hockey Trivia Playing Cards provide a wealth of information and insights into the wonderful, fast and hard-hitting game of hockey. If you're looking for a great gift idea for the ardent hockey fan, look no further!
